| Street Construction and Maintenance
DDOT constructs and maintains District-owned roadways, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and alleys.
- Street reconstruction, resurfacing, and/or upgrading projects are identified and budgeted based upon pavement condition index surveys performed by DDOT, and other pertinent factors, such as vibration complaints and community needs.
- Roadways receive spot-resurfacing after a high number of complaints have been made or when pavement condition surveys indicate that the roadway is bumpy or damaged.
- Potholes and other dangerous conditions are prioritized and repaired or made safe within 72 hours. Requests are received from residents and street construction/maintenance crews who routinely file reports on their tours of city streets.
To report potholes or dangerous road conditions:
- Call the Mayor's Citywide Call Center at 311;
- Contact the DC Council or your ANC office; or
- Submit an Online Service Request through the DC website
